Patients with diagnosed chronic respiratory conditions can breathe easier with a new CQ Health Respiratory Rapid Access Service in Rockhampton.

The service, based at CQ Health’s Health Clinic at CQUniversity, is reducing Emergency Department (ED) pressures by providing a safe, alternative care pathway for known respiratory patients.

It enables timely and streamlined access to specialist care to eligible patients with chronic health conditions.

It prevents avoidable ED presentations, reduces ED congestion, reduces hospital admissions, streamlines care and improves patient experience/outcomes.

Eligible patients have access to a rapid triage and streamlining service, including phone advice, and general practitioners have access to this service to consult on behalf of their patients.

The pathway is available to existing respiratory patients, which means they can be assessed and treated by their usual treating team quickly and efficiently.
