Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service continues to provide great care to the community, as highlighted in the 2022-23 annual report, tabled in State Parliament today.
Board Chair Paul Bell thanked CQ Health staff for their dedication and great work.
“Our teams deliver outstanding results when it comes to providing top-quality health care, and the Board is proud of our people and their commitment to what they deliver,” Mr Bell said.
Chief Executive Dr Emma McCahon said that, as well as providing great care to the community, the health service had done a lot of work planning for the future. One of highlights was finalisation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equity Strategy which sets out a clear vision for placing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and voices at the centre of our health care.
Another highlight was completion of a Local Area Needs Assessment to outline key health needs of the community to inform service planning, which is a key part of developing a clinical services plan to shape the future of the health service.
A new Maternity Care Network has created a safe and sustainable birthing service for the women and families of Central Queensland. This was formed because of difficulties in recruiting suitably skilled obstetric/gynaecologist specialists particularly in Gladstone. This network is supporting resource sharing across the health service to fill workforce gaps, support service sustainability and deliver safe care close to home.
“I want to thank our amazing healthcare teams right across the region. Undoubtedly our greatest resource is our staff, and we are committed to fostering a supporting workplace and to care for our people so they can care for our community,” Dr McCahon said.
In an average day in 2022-23 CQ Health teams had:
