The Gladstone Nurse-led Walk-in Clinic has officially opened its doors at the Gladstone Central Shopping Centre, offering free, accessible healthcare to the local community.

The clinic, operated by Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, will offer treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, illnesses and other health concerns.

This includes common colds and infections, minor cuts and burns, strains and sprains, gastroenteritis and urinary tract infections. The clinic will offer services specifically focused on the health and wellbeing of women and girls.

Located at Gladstone Central Shopping Centre in Goondoon Street, the clinic will provide care to patients aged two and over, easing pressure on Gladstone Hospital’s emergency department and supporting local GPs.

Health Service Chief Executive Lisa Blackler is thrilled to open this free service for Gladstone before the Christmas period.

“We’re thrilled to open this new service at Gladstone Central Shopping Centre, making healthcare more accessible and free for the local community, right here at their doorstep.”

“This new clinic provides a convenient and accessible option for people seeking urgent healthcare, offering a great alternative to a busy emergency department."

Gladstone Director of Nursing and Midwifery Andrea Cornthwaite is delighted to bring this service to the Gladstone community.

“I’m excited to lead this new clinic, which is now open for everyone in the Gladstone region, providing even more options for high-quality care closer to home.

“A dedicated team of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse consultants, and clinical nurses has been carefully selected to deliver this service, showcasing the vital role that nurses play in healthcare delivery across our region.”

The clinic will provide greater access to free, quality healthcare and be staffed by experienced, senior nurses working at the top of their scope to deliver frontline care.

Services are free for everyone (including Medicare and non-Medicare card holders), which means you can walk-in and receive clinical assessment, treatment, and advice from qualified nursing staff, including nurse practitioners.

Patients who require care beyond the clinic’s capabilities will be referred promptly to the most appropriate service.
