Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is welcoming its newest intake of doctors, with medical graduates starting their orientation programs earlier this month.

Executive Director Medical Services Professor Pooshan Navathe said this was an exciting time for the medical graduates and the health service alike, as they warmly welcome new additions to the clinical team.

“We pride ourselves in Central Queensland on providing a comprehensive and supported start to these doctors’ careers,” Prof Navathe said.

“CQHHS is committed to upskilling the next generation of healthcare professionals to ensure the sustainability of health services in our region.

“Our hospitals are the perfect training grounds, as doctors in training are exposed to a rewarding mix of patient cases, giving a broad and more rounded experience than what they would receive in a large metropolitan centre.”

After a two-week orientation to the health service, the medical interns will do rotations at various departments and hospitals across Central Queensland.

“We offer a full training program with support and mentorship of experienced doctors to help the graduates transition to their first year of work from years of university study,” Prof Navathe said.

“We warmly welcome this new group of doctors to our clinical teams and wish them every success.”
