A large group of general practitioners sit at the CQ GP Conference

Sixty general practitioners (GPs) from across Central Queensland have gathered in Rockhampton in a two-day conference organised by CQ Health and Ramsay Health.

Specialists from across Central Queensland presented on various topics, including Obstetrics, Infectious Diseases, Women’s Health, Cardiology, Geriatrics and Mental Health, addressing the region’s diverse healthcare needs. The event also included a program for 23 GP practice nurses, enhancing the reach and impact of the discussions.

CQ Health Chief Operating Officer Victoria Leov said it was vital that local healthcare providers worked together to improve outcomes for Central Queensland patients.

“This conference was a great opportunity for GPs to meet with representatives from CQ Health and Hillcrest Private Hospital, and to discuss some of the latest medical issues affecting our region,” she said.

“Thanks to our CQ Health GP Liaison Officer Dr Nick Wong, and Hillcrest Private Hospital for organising this important event to create a more collaborative approach to healthcare services in our region.”

Hillcrest Rockhampton Private Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mrs Fiona Hebbard highlighted the conference’s role in advancing the quality of care provided to the community.

“This conference marks a significant step towards uniting our healthcare professionals and sharing knowledge that can directly benefit our patients,” she said.

“Through such partnerships, we can continue to elevate the standard of healthcare in our region.”

The conference will support in addressing challenges such as increased patient demand, complex disease profiles, population growth, limited aged care and disability services and a global workforce shortage. It also reflected a dedicated effort to enhance healthcare services in Central Queensland through collaboration and shared expertise.
