Queensland Health is offering incentives for healthcare workers to move to Central Queensland and join our team.

Eligible healthcare workers

Healthcare workers eligible for the incentive schemes are:

  • medical doctors and specialists
  • nurses
  • midwives
  • allied health professionals
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce
  • dentists
  • oral health practitioners
  • scientific officers.

Scheme 1 - Interstate and international healthcare workers

If you join us from another state or country, you may be eligible for up to $20,000 to live and work in Gladstone, Rockhampton or the Capricorn Coast.

Payments

  • $10,000 when you start
  • $10,000 after completing 12 months of service

Part-time workers will receive payments based on their part-time hours.

You're not eligible if:

  • you’re already living and working in Queensland
  • you’ve left another hospital and health service or Queensland Health in the last 12 months
  • you’ve already received incentive payments under Health Employment Directive (HED) 06/23 or HED 02/23, or any approved administrative arrangement.

Scheme 2 - Rural and remote healthcare workers

If you join us from within Queensland, another state, or overseas, you may be eligible for up to $70,000 to live and work in rural and remote Central Queensland.

Payments

  • $30,000 when you start
  • $20,000 after completing 12 months of service
  • $20,000 after completing 24 months of service

Part-time workers will receive payments based on their part-time hours.

This payment is available if you’re moving from within Queensland, as long as you're moving from a metro, regional or large rural location (category 1,2,3 under the Modified Monash Model).

You're not eligible if:

  • you already work in Queensland in a rural or remote location (category 4, 5, 6 or 7 under the Modified Monash Model)
  • you’ve left another hospital and health service or Queensland Health in the last 12 months
  • you’ve already received incentive payments under Health Employment Directive (HED) 06/23 or HED 02/23, or any approved administrative arrangement.

How we pay you

We’ll pay your incentive payment (less income tax) through our payroll system in the first available pay period.

The amount you get is part of your salary or wages. We include it in your income statement at the end of the tax year. You won't pay fringe benefits tax (FBT) on the payments.
