New women and family centre
Our West Wing at Gladstone Hospital will get an upgrade. This will support healthcare services for women and children in Central Queensland.
The new centre will bring together maternity and paediatric services. This means we can give better care to women, children, and families.
The centre will have modern single rooms for comfort and privacy. The new space will allow us to give better care and support women in labour to stay in their rooms longer.
The birth suite and operating theatre is in the same centre, to give better clinical flow.
The upgrades will include:
- new modern maternity space
- single maternity rooms
- a nursery where we care for babies in need
- single rooms and isolation rooms for paediatric patients.
Renal services
To allow for growth we must move renal services to a bigger space. The move will allow us to expand, reduce evening sessions, and treat more people locally.
The plan is to improve comfort and access. We will consider access to close parking, distance to the service and waiting rooms.
Cancer care
We know that cancer care services are important for some of our sickest patients. That’s why we’re making sure you get better care in updated treatment spaces. The plan is to improve comfort and access.
The location of our cancer care service will change. We will consider access to close parking, distance to the service and waiting rooms. We will also limit patient interactions to keep your hospital visits safe.
